Diaries and correspondence between Garlock and his family while he was on Army active duty in the Spanish-American War (1898), the 1916 Texas border incidient with Mexico, and World War I (1916-1919). Garlock's World War I letters describe his duties as an officer in the 128th Infantry, 32nd Division, conditions in the trenches while in France, as well as the impact of the war on the French people and countryside.
